The Winter War saw Finland and the Soviet Union confront each other in a short but bloody conflict
On 30 November 1939, Soviet forces invaded Finland, but the Russian plan of a blitzkrieg, in the style of the German Blitzkrieg, failed miserably in the face of the strenuous defence implemented by the Finnish forces. Great similarities with the war in Ukraine: in both cases, the Russians underestimated first the Finnish and then the Ukrainian enemies.
