“Adele passed on her passion for sport to her children: (…) my grandmother Luisa also loved skiing. In a photo preserved among the family heirlooms, she was immortalised alongside the great Zeno Colò, in an alpine hut, during a warm-up break. Unfortunately, Adele also bequeathed Luisa arthritis, which made her grandmother suffer greatly.” (pp. 81 – 82).

In the photograph, the grandmother, in the centre, has Zeno Colò, the all-conquering ski champion to her right, who was then a member of one of the Alpine Ski Patrols expatriated to Switzerland after 8 September 1943; they were staying at the Hotel Restaurant Du Lac, in the Bretaye ski basin above Villars-sur-Ollon, Canton Vaud, Switzerland.
