Grandmother Luisa was not only an excellent sportswoman, but also a protagonist of Milanese fashion. Newspaper cuttings preserved in the archive show how the magazines often mentioned Mrs Venosta, who was noted for her imaginative elegance whether it was in swimwear or hats worn to a premiere at La Scala. Here she is portrayed in a mountain outfit, of which the archive preserves proof photos.

Luisa was also a person of undoubted culture: a translator from French and English for the most important Italian publishing houses, as well as the author of a volume of poems, Città murata (1959), she also wrote a small book, Perché cuciniamo per chi cuciniamo, on ‘education in food and respect for raw materials and people, listening, welcoming, in short, the art of cooking and hosting’, first published in 2012.
