Adriana Botti and ‘La dolce vita’ by Federico Fellini

Adriana Botti in Monti was my mother’s best friend all her life.

I also knew and often saw her husband Mario, who passed away many years ago.

As in so many other cases, the sons and daughters of Adriana and Giorgina Venosta’s generation mingled. At the Fortress, in Milan or even in Lindos .

I find this episode significant from an era of Italian History that reads below: “Adriana Botti, the girl that Fellini had chosen from hundreds of candidates for the role of Maddalena in the film‘La dolce vita‘ (see ‘Oggi’ no. 8), informed the director that she could not accept the part.”

The girls of ‘Milano Bene’ could not be actresses!

But they could work at la Rinascente, where my mother did.
