Time puts everything in its place. Esteem and consensus, the genuine kind, cannot be bought and, above all, cannot be imposed
We are honoured to be quoted by a great connoisseur of the Italian retail sector (and beyond) … perhaps one of the few who can claim to have truly revolutionised the Italian retail sector with a number of groundbreaking projects!
I am simply writing to express my satisfaction in reading your newsletter that I periodically receive. It is always full of interesting and unfamiliar insights, informative, precise and accurate. I have read many times about topics not dealt with elsewhere and therefore very interesting. Thank you, I will continue on this path. For the benefit of attentive consumers and those who read it with interest
In the face of her powerful work of historical reconstruction (personal, family, company, country), I cannot fail to acknowledge her great lucidity, intellectual honesty and courage (as well as uncommon literary skills).
One of the most beautiful episodes! I’ve always wondered why Esselunga was light years ahead of its competitors, and hearing the story told by Giuseppe Caprotti gave me some answers
From a very harsh criticism comes one of the reasons why I wrote this book: I do not like the fake news that has always been spread about me, the company, the family, etc.
Today, Giuseppe Caprotti is also the president of the Guido Venosta Foundation, his maternal grandfather. The foundation was established with the aim of spreading the highest ideals of culture and solidarity and is actually involved in four areas: health protection and scientific research, solidarity, promotion of culture, environmental protection
Giuseppe has contributed significantly to the development of the family business. After graduating in Contemporary History from the Sorbonne in Paris in 1986, with a thesis on the political and economic situation in Alto Adige published by Franco Angeli, Giuseppe embarked on a career in the retail sector. In 2004, after a period of collaboration with his father, Giuseppe was dismissed from the company. Subsequently, he assumed the presidency of the Guido Venosta Foundation. In 2023, he published the book ‘Le Ossa dei Caprotti’, published by Feltrinelli
One of the most beautiful bookshops in Italy for one of the best ‘corporate storytelling’ books I have read. Congratulations Giuseppe Caprotti
Reading the book confirms the human depth of Giuseppe Caprotti, which was also perceived when seeing him at work in the way he approached us in the sales outlets in Milan in the 1990s
One of the many fairy tales found on the web has it that we were inspired by the New York State chain (base. Rochester) to develop the Esselunga superstores: not so, our model was influenced by my experience working at Dominick’s in Chicago.
