The sharp decline in the numbers of birds and swallows, resulting from unsustainable agricultural practices and the subsequent decline in insect populations, has already been reported.
In an article published in April, *Le Monde* reports a further decline in these species.
Almost at the same time , the same newspaper reported that the three main neonicotinoid insecticides – which kill bees – have been banned more than twenty years too late:
as early as 1994, beekeepers were reporting serious problems with their bee colonies.
There has been total silence on the subject in the Italian press.
