According to well-informed sources, a complaint under Legislative Decree 198/2021 (prohibited commercial practice) has been lodged with the Department of the Central Inspectorate for the Protection of Quality and Fraud Repression of Agri-Food Products (Icqrf) of the Ministry of Agriculture, whose competences are:
The ICQRF has 30 offices in Italy. Its tasks at national level include:
■ prevention and repression of fraud in the trade of agri-food products and technical means of production for agriculture;
■ supervision of control and certification bodies operating within regulated quality agri-food production regimes (PDO, PGI, Organic, …);
■ combating the irregular marketing of agri-food products introduced from Member States or third countries and fraudulent phenomena that generate situations of unfair competition between operators and sanctions for the proper functioning of interprofessional agreements.
At a European and global level, the ICQRF is an ex officio authority and coordinating authority on wine and defends quality ‘Made in Italy’ products in all European countries, combating counterfeiting outside EU borders also through cooperation agreements.
The ICQRF carries out controls on the Web to protect Italian quality products by entering into agreements with the main world e-commerce players.
With four laboratories, all EU accredited, the ICQRF also carries out analytical checks on thousands of products per year.
I had already mentioned this as a nonsensical request by the well-known discount chain.
Below you will find the incidence of transport and logistics costs of the large-scale retail trade, which, coincidentally, coincides with that of Eurospin (source: Observatory on food retail trade, Area studi Mediobanca).
By the way, logistics also means goods handling, not just transport . All at the expense of suppliers?
Honestly, this seems to me to be a distortion of the market, creating further inflation, in an already very difficult context.
Conclusion: Eurospin is a brilliant chain with very interesting commercial initiatives .
Too bad it gets lost in these kinds of initiatives that, in my opinion, risk damaging its image.
