Love for animals, and dogs in particular, has always been a constant in the family: great-grandfather Maire spoke passionately about his dogs to his son-in-law, my grandfather Peppino, almost all of The Caprotti family were passionate hunters and therefore surrounded by dogs, we were all, being in the countryside, always in contact with all kinds of animals and we adored the dogs of our parents and uncles, and mum always had a little dog in her arms as soon as she could, as in this photograph, belonging to a series taken by my father Bernardo, which shows her on her honeymoon in France (they were married in November 1958) with a little puppy on her lap.
They do good, animals, they save from many things. This is why one of the initiatives of the Guido Venosta Foundation, which I now chair and which was also led by my mother before me, financed, also with the contribution of Giorgina Venosta ‘s husband, Aldo Bassetti, the non-profit Fondazione Progetto Arca onlus, which was thus able to start renovating a farmstead in the Baggio district of Milan to launch ‘Cascina Vita Nova – Giorgina Venosta’, inaugurated in October 2021, an important reception project, much desired by the mother, aimed at homeless people with dogs, usually rejected by other reception institutions and whom their ‘humans’ never abandon, even if this means not finding shelter.
