This is the transcript of an unpublished video which, in my view, captures well the transition from industry to distribution within our family, but also across the Brianza region.
“As I said on 29 March in Albiate during a presentation, I wrote this book, *Le Ossa dei Caprotti*, to tell the story of my family. A 300-year history that begins with agriculture and spans the textile industry.”
I am standing in front of the gates of the Caprotti Factory, which closed in 2009.
This factory represents my childhood in Albiate…
I’ve spoken to people who’ve shared stories about my family and the textile industry, bringing depth to this history. My ancestors lived here, not in the villa where I now live, which was purchased in 1893. Near the villa is the chapel dedicated to San Valerio and the cemetery, which plays a key role in this story.
. Personally, faced with the difficulties in the textile industry – which had already arisen in the 1970s – I tried to help out by selling the factory’s shirts at Esselunga, where I managed the non-food department, which achieved a turnover of 700 million euros…
. We move on to Macherio [Machè in the local dialect], another important location in the book.
This used to be a factory belonging to Manifattura Caprotti; it has now been converted into a superstore.
I visited this factory in the 1980s or 1990s. Macherio is also home to the Rivolta family, mentioned in the book: they were friends of the family and lived nearby.”
This logo was probably designed in 1977 by the Armando Testa agency.
