Rita Consonni on the Manifattura, the Caprotti family and my book, Le Ossa dei Caprotti

I recently wrote: ” Manifattura Caprotti … has represented much more than a company: it has been the beating heart of the entire community of Albiate …, a symbol of innovation and dedication and has represented the family’s industrial roots, which later allowed them to acquire a majority stake in Supermarkets Italiani, today’s Esselunga“.

i read the book and I seem to relive the story … and all the stories that my mother [Alessandrina Recalcati], still alive at 87 years old, has always told …

She was secretary and switchboard operator at Manifattura Caprotti until ’67, in daily contact with everything that was happening in the company and in the management offices…

and she often tells me about Dr. Bernardo, Dr. Guido [Caprotti] and Mrs. Giorgina [Venosta]… Lady with a capital S as she says… Of whom he has immense esteem…

And when Dr Giuseppe was born, she remembers with emotion the great joy of Bernardo who shouted to her on the telephone: ‘IT’S A MALE…
