In 2023 Altroconsumo rewarded pasta, assigning first place to Barilla spaghetti al bronzo in the 400-gram pack.Also on the podium were Italiamo pasta(LIDL), with the 500 gram packet, and Armando Lo Spaghetto.
In 2025: Gambero Rosso, the best spaghetti in Italy
First: Garofalo then Todis (discount) then Voiello (Barilla), La Molisana, Esselunga, Granoro, Lidl, De Cecco, Consilia and PAM.
In the ranking of the best canned tuna, we find Rio Mare pole-caught olive oil in first place, followed by Angelo Parodi, AsdoMar and Coop Fior Fiore. But the real surprise is Eurospin’s Ondina, which wins the title of best buy for value for money.
And it is not the only discounter that surprises: the Lidl products also do not disappoint in my personal opinion.

In Altroconsumo’s new test of 21 brands, only three proved to be completely free of Tfa (perfluoroacrylic acids), among them Eurospin’s Sant’Antonio. Excellent results also for Conad Valpura and San Benedetto Eco Green Benedicta.
Quality is not just a question of price and brand. What do you think? Was Lidl right in the end to ‘pass itself off’ as a supermarket?
It is no coincidence that it is pushing itself, like Aldi, further and further into the wealthiest areas of Italy, such as Milan. Note that in Area 1 (Lombardy, Piedmont, etc.) supermarkets and discounters are taking over from hypermarkets and superstores.
